Posting here my initial story on the many wonderful barters I've made through the Facebook group Iloilo Barter Community.

Book to microSD

Parokya ni Edgar's "Halaga" always comes to mind when I browse through the posts in this group. The line, "Binabasura ng iba ang siyang pinapangarap ko" rings true in many transactions here.

I was lucky enough to be among the first ones invited to this group. I was immediately hooked. I love the concept of bartering because it is productive decluttering -- partly an exercise in letting go, and partly an acknowledgment that someone always wants you somewhere.

Body wash to slippers

Book to Type C cord

All the things that I let go did not have much value to me. They were just stored away, neglected, or collecting dust. They were certainly better off in someone else's hands/arms.

Phin filter and chopsticks to donuts

Coffee press to beer

Oh, but the things I got for them gave me so much happiness. From urgently needed cellphone accessories (na-save ang pangbakal cord and microSD), to long sought after home essentials (MAY FOLDING BED NA KOOO!), to food that I did not have to spend for (nakahingagaw bag-o mabalik ang liquor ban 😂), every exchange sparked so much joy.

Kreo blocks to nuts and chia seeds

Wala ko sang nangin ka-barter nga daw nanigurado gid nga indi sila ma-"lugi" sa amon transactions. In fact, Ilonggos are so generous, we have the word PAAMAN to illustrate just how extra we are.

Toy cars to chips and nuts

Lenovo tablet to folding bed

To the tireless Titas of IBaCo, you deserve our wholehearted expressions of gratitude.

Cheers to this cashless community. May the members here and all other future barters make this health crisis a little more bearable
